Back on the turf after almost a full year away, the Knights took on Decatur in first official district game of the season on Friday. Unfortunately, it was not the victory they sought, but the night proved to be a triumph for teamwork, showing off how the boys in black collaborated and are prepared to take this new year by storm. Isaiah Cobio threw for 168 yards and a touchdown while adding 46 yards and another six points on the ground. Jay'Vion Jackson led the receivers with six catches for 96 yards, while Jaxson Trammell added a touchdown reception. Together, offense produced 269 total yards and amassed two touchdowns.
Defensively, Eagle Mountain fought tooth and nail through all four quarters against a very strong Decatur team. From start to finish, they produced the kind of "never quit" attitude that most team only begin to see during the middle of the season, speaking volume to how cohesive of a group has already been crafted in just this short time. A highlight of the defensive play was Jeremiah Williams snagging an interception to keep the Knights in the competition.
The team is back at home on Friday, September 4th, for their Homecoming game against Graham.
