Meeting Ferris High School at Mustang-Panther Stadium on Tuesday, the Knights were riding in high off of their win in Bi-District over the break and looking to keep the streak going. Though their opponent gained the upper hand early in the first half, Jan Schaefer - with brilliant dribbling effort - delivered a surgical strike into the back net and tied up the game 1-1 going into halftime. Eagle Mountain came back out on fire, and just ninety seconds into the second half, Peter Akeke broke through the defense with a great run and put the team up 2-1; however, an second goal from Ferris equaled up the score once again in the very last minute of regulation. Reid McGinn made two great saves as the game went into overtime, but sadly the Knights were blocked on all three of their penalty kick attempts, ending the evening and the season as Area runner-ups.
While the playoff berth has come to an end, the Knights recorded a fantastic run of 11-5-3 and brought home several new program records in the process. "The future is bright for the Knights," commented head coach Cody Schroeder.
What a great run, gents! Congratulations!
